Review: ‘Only Fools & Boycie’ show at Fairfield Halls, Croydon

I have been a fan of ‘Only Fools & Horses’ for as long as I can remember, and of course, John Challis who plays ‘Boycie’ in the comedy series. So when the opportunity arose for me to go and see a show of his at Fairfield Halls in Croydon I couldn’t wait!

His show is full of hilarious anecdotes from his life, which are also a lovely read in his 2-part autobiography Being Boycie , and Boycie & Beyond. A montage of clips put together of John’s acting career were displayed, and also classic clips of OFAH were shown throughout the evening, bringing the audience to hysterics. Separated into 2 parts it began with the humorously told anecdotes, and then after the interval a continuation of his story covering his role in The Green Green Grass and onwards.

The stories were very entertaining, as were the impressions John did of some people including The Beatles and teachers from his school (full story in his autobiography). As the evening drew to a close, the audience were treated to a Q&A – a very fun part for everyone who had their own questions for the legend.

At the end of the show there was a Meet & Greet allowing us to have books and photos signed…as well as a selfie (or normal picture) taken! This of course was the cherry on top of a wonderful night.

I had a very enjoyable evening and would definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of John Challis. You are guaranteed laughs (he is naturally funny)….
