Adam Ant at Hammersmith Apollo

My rating: 10/10

Last night I experienced the BEST gig of my life so far! Adam Ant I bow down to you….simply amazing!

As part of a six – date UK tour, Adam performed songs from Adam & the Ants 1979 debut album, Dirk Wears White Sox in its entirety and many more! This was of course my first time seeing Adam Ant perform on stage and I can honestly say that he still has it! He entertained us for about 2 hours non-stop delivering all the classic tunes in top form.

Once all the performances of  Dirk had been done, he moved onto other legendary songs including that of AntmusicStand and Deliver. Then he also covered ‘Get It On’ by T-Rex, dedicating it to Marc Bolan (whom Adam recalls meeting and asking for his autograph at a record store, some time before he died).

I thoroughly enjoyed the the gig and all the banter in between, which was received with a barrel of laughs from the audience. Despite some negative reviews (that Adam addressed), this particular event seemingly ran problem-free and was enjoyed by everyone!

What I have discovered from this gig is that Adam can indeed multitask! haha! During the set he set up a screen behind which he got changed while singing! This was received with plenty of whistles and giggles and appeared to not disappoint many (well, mainly the ladies spectating,of course).

I have been waiting a very long time to see a gig of Adam’s and I came out absolutely BUZZING!! The atmosphere was electric and the audience were clearly getting into the spirit of things, what with dancing in the aisles and whatnot.

His clothes style totally reminded me of Johnny Depp in Captain Jack Sparrow  – mode! It was lovely to see Adam wearing some of the bands trademark outfits – ‘the romantic outfits and heavy make-up’ …. many of the fans did too!

fANTastic!!! (sorry, couldn’t help it)

I really REALLY loved the gig and had a very memorable night, now I am off to listen to all the albums repeatedly!
