‘The Walking Dead’ – Season 2

A few days ago, my brother wanted me to watch ‘The Walking Dead’ with him and after much persuasion, I did – and haven’t looked back since.

I know I haven’t seen all the seasons in order yet, but from what I have seen from this particular one, I LOVE IT.

-left to right- Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), Shane Walsh (John Bernthal), Glenn Rhee (Steve Yeun), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies), Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Jeffrey DeMunn (Dale Horvath) and Andrea (Laurie Holden)

The story continues from Season 1 where there has been a zombie apocalypse and Rick who had been hospitalised comes around and discovered that the whole town has been destroyed – mauled bodies strewn everywhere (of course).

As the plot progresses, we witness the deaths of several people including those of Sophia, Dale, Otis and Shane by zombies making a savage mess of their victims bodies and the ripping out of organs. Beautiful stuff. Relationships are tested and the group of survivors (including Rick, Carl, Lori, Shane, Glenn, Carol, Andrea, Hershel, Maggie and Dale) take up refuge in Hershel’s house on his farm until it was considered unsafe that is. The reason for this came to light when Glenn discovered that the barn just a short distance away from the house was filled with ‘walkers’ that were actually zombie-fied relatives of Hershel and Maggie’s. But even though he had sworn he would not reveal this secret to the rest of the group, he felt the need to confide in Dale. The events escalated from here leading to the barn being broken into and setting a fire, burning the bodies as well as shooting them in the head.

The biggest moment of the series occurred after Shane was shot by Rick, which resulted in A LOT of ‘walkers’ being attracted to the area . It was pretty hilarious seeing the zombies dragging themselves along the ground very slowly, but not fast enough to catch up with Rick who was joined by Carl as they were running back to the house to tell the others. Once the group manage to re-band on the highway, the scene is ending and the camera zooms out, revealing a huge deserted prison that they seek refuge in during season 3.

Well there you have it, I know the summary was a but rushed, but don’t worry…. the main highlights were zombies tucking into their human happy meals. 🙂
